Build Peace
Looking to be part of peace efforts in your community? The Joy Boyz' Plenty & Pee Wee Peace Project of Joy Road is a comprehensive Community Violence Intervention (CVI) initiative that introduces a cross-neighborhood and layered approach to conflict resolution. It centers those who are at risk of community violence to break the cycle of retaliation and promote peace, healing, and restoration.
The program employs national solutions as outlined in Force Detroit's Build Peace Report and adheres to local wisdom such as that of Detroit Friends & Families to treat community violence as a community health issue. It empowers credible messengers to offer public education, mediate peace talks, and coordinate programs that create new safety norms, facilitate transformative experiences for those at the highest risk for violence, and connect participants to supportive services that support economic mobility, community belonging, and planning for future generations.
